Bonjour a tous,
Thanks very much Fotor, Philippe, Dominique and Michel for your encouraging comments!
Just when I more or less finished the heads I found a very useful "class" on youtube how to model heads in sculpey clay, worth to take a look at!

Hello everyone,
The FG-2 was only equipped with the Wilhelm Morrell anemometer, very well described by Vincent Becancon in his article about the Mira 3.
Here just visible on the right diagonal strut.
I gave my friend ADRI (who already made the rib templates and all the small ply stuff for the ribs) the plans and asked him if he thought 3D printing was an option. He texted me; just wait!
I had a lucky day! After some time the photo's came in!
So ADRI made this anomemeter completely!!
(I only painted it)
The dial is the download of the Mira 3
I was very pleased with his great effort!!
Now I went on,I only had to make the mounting thing and paint it (Humbrol matt grey)
A small video,
https://youtu.be/3INhTQuJVMk
Thank you very much Adri, this was a tricky thing to make!! and I am very pleased with it!!
To be continued,
Vincent

Hello everyone,
Next is the painting of the heads, difficult to get it more or less right...
From my wife I borrowed acrylics, skin colour and burnt sienna. Nice thing is you can mix it on a plate and you can speed up the drying proces with a simple hair drier, so you can quickly find out if the colour is right.
first coat; left is bare sculpey, right has the base colour.
Next thing is adding shades
bit to much, correcting it again
Looks stil a bit too much, but I'll wait with changing that, till the moment the figures are complete with clothes etc.
Next thing is unknown to me. On this photo there is a very distinct black line which holds the cloth. It looks a bit temporarely, but nice to model it!
It starts at the nose and goes round the cockpit aperture.
I like to make holes with some heat, so I made from a pin a very small heat thing wrapped around my soldering iron to make all the small holes.
It took some time with needle and thread.
How farther I got in the nose, the more difficult it went and the last three stitches were impossible.
I cheated a bit;
wrapped thread round, put thin superglue on it and cut away the half loops
Glued the half loops through the holes
Now the interior is almost finished, I closed the bottom with diacov
to be continued,
Vincent

Bonjour Christian,
Merci pour les comments!
J'ai essayer de faire une tete comme Anthony Fokker et pour le passagier la tete est completement phantasie.
I tried to make a real different head (even his nose is crocked ) so every resemblence with Vincent is purely coincidence!

Amicalement,

Bonjour a tous,
I had asked my sister, Hans, to make the clothing for the pilot and passenger and she had already promised to do that.
First I had to make the boots. I used "porienfuller" to make the balsa smooth and thin ply as soles.
, painted it with acrylics umber and burnt sienna
made it a bit darker
In between Hans had made the clothes
(the hands are already fixed, but it was very dark weather to take photo's)
I went outside when there was a bit of sun:
I was very glad with her effort!
My sister Hans put in a lot of detail!
With fitting the hands I had to cut off the arms bit by bit
and before gluing checking if it all fits
yes, I still have to change his left arm
When fitting in the plane I noticed they looked a bit "scared" and I guessed it was the position of the head(s), so I changed that.
and put 3mm carbon for strength
I couldn't find goggles, so I made them myself, the more 'basic' type, used in that period. First I had problems with cutting the glass and making the rims, till I realised I had a lathe! So from waterpipe I cut off two rims and sharpened another piece as a pons? to hammer out the glass and the leather (yes from the same purse )
and glued a 2mm elastic band to it. Also I discovered that the chairs were not correct, so I made new ones with a back of two layers of ply, used the same seat cushion.
Now I had to fit them in! First the passenger
and yes, the belts are very wide and the closure is much higher placed than nowadays
then the pilot
Its crowded in the cockpit!
Adri was so kind to make the decals, on the photo's only the number "4" is visible and we took some artistic freedom to add the "Fokker" logo as had almost all his planes on the vertical tailplane.
The Fokker is now as good as finished. It turned out to weigh 4450 grams, a bit heavier than I expected! I had to test something. I was uncertain if the rigging had weak points, so I did a static test, first with 6 kilo's and then with 15 kilo's ( its an 80 AH car battery on top of the wing)
I was very glad it passed this test without a hitch.
Now we have to wait for better weather to make decent photo's outside and make the first flights.
Some facts of the model;
span 2m 22cm
lenght 1m 45cm
wing surface 132 dm2
weight 4450 gr
wingload 33.7 gr/dm2
to be continued,
Vincent
